Our IVF Details

Pre- IVF work-up

  • Blood tests for both – FSH, e2, HIV, Rubella, etc. (typically day 2 of period)
  • Seman Analysis
  • HSG – the saline x-ray to check the tubes (if blocked or not)
  • Hysteroscopy – video of the uterus under sedation
  • Ultrasound (day 2 of period) – # of antral follicles, check for cysts, etc.
  • Ultrasound (day 21 of period) – lining thickness

IVF#1 (Feb/Mar 2010) – Antagonist Protocol

  • Day 2: ultrasound (Right side: 15 follicles, Left side: 4 follicles)
  • Day 2 of period: 200IU puregon (8 days total)
  • Day 5 of period: antagonist – 25IU cetrotide (4 days total)
  • Day 5: ultrasound (Right side: 6 follies >=8mm, 3x- R and 3x-L too small)
  • Day 8: ultrasound (Right side: 1x 20mm, 2x 18mm, 5x 14mm, 3x – R and 3x-L at 10mm)
  • Day 8: trigger
  • Day 10: retrieval (15 eggs, 8 mature, 5 fertilized)
  • Day 13: 3 normal embryos, other 2 arrested
  • Day 15: transferred 2 perfect blast with assisted hatching; 1 morula arrested
  • Day 27: beta test (12 days post transfer)

IVF#2 (Apr/May 2010) without transfer – Long Lupron/Agonist Protocol

  • cd 13:BCP daily
  • cd 20: monitoring/ultrasound
  • cd 21: start 10 IU Lucrin/Lupron daily
  • cd 25: last day of BCP
  • cd 1 (30): Baseline US and BW
  • cd 2: 5IU Lucrin/Lupron, 225IU Gonal-F, Antibiotics and Baby Aspirin
  • cd 5: increase Gonal-F to 300IU
  • cd9: trigger, stopped all medications
  • cd11: ER (19 eggs, 13 mature)
  • cd12: fertilization report (19 eggs, 16 mature, 14 fertilized)
  • cd 15: 7 normal embryos, 3 average embryos
  • cd 18: 7 blasts on ice: 4 good blast, 2 average blast (of which one collapsed), 1 average to good

FET #1 (May/June 2010) Medicated Cycle

  • cd -18: start BCP
  • cd -10: Lupron depot (long lasting Lupron)
  • cd -6:  ultrasound scan and last day of BCP
  • cd 1: Baseline US and BW, start estrogen pills
  • cd 9: ultrasound check, continue estrogen and start progesterone (once lining is ready, ie triple layer, thickness > 7mm)
  • cd 14: final ultrasound check to see if lining has spread 
  • cd15: ET (frosties defrosted same morning)
  • cd 26: beta (moved up)
